It’s March and St. Patrick’s Day is just a week away, which means McDonalds is selling their famous green shamrock shakes again. As the original is simply a mix of mint ice cream, vanilla syrup, milk, green food colouring and loads of unhealthy additives, why not make one yourself? Of course I decided to subsitute every single ingredient while still trying to stick to the original flavour as much as healthy ingredients allow me to.
Including matcha for the colour and fresh mint for taste, I am quite happy with my result. If you’re also a big fan of these shakes, go ahead try to make one at home, they will be just as good (and much much healthier) even if you don’t go with a vegan version, I promise!
St. Patrick's Shamrock Shake (Vegan, Gluten Free, Dye Free)
- 1-2 cup frozen bananas
- 1 cup baby spinach
- 1/4 tsp matcha (optional)
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
- 1-2 tsp maple syrup
- 4 leaves mint
- Simply blend all ingredients together and enjoy while cold!
