Paint Canvas, Palette & Paintbrush Cookies

Paint Canvas, Palette & Paintbrush Cookies | Chapters by S.

These painting cookies could be the eye catcher at your next party. They are not just super straight forward to make but also delicious. And the best part, if you are a regular baker like me, you might already have all the ingredients in your kitchen.

STEP 1: THE COOKIES

In my recipe below you’ll find standard cookie ingredients for ease, but feel free to substitute. I used coconut sugar in this case, which is why the cookies have this lovely brown colour.

STEP 2: THE ICING

So making cookies is easy, we all know. The hard part (or so I thought) is the royal icing. I used to have such a fear of getting the consistency wrong, until I figured out that all you need is a runny base (flooding consistency). From there you can always add more sugar according to your needs. Much easier than you think!

Small Bowl (for Piping – Outline & Colours)

Medium Bowl (for Flooding – Brown)

  • Add cocoa powder and brown food colouring
  • Fill into piping bag and use to cover the paint palettes and brush handles

Large Bowl (for Flooding – White)

  • Fill white icing into piping bag and use to fill the canvas cookies once the outlines are done

Paint Decoration

  • For the paint palettes and brushes use the coloured ‘piping’ icing you mixed in your small icing bowl
  • For the canvas paint splatter use a wet brush, dip into your coloured ‘piping’ icing and flip at the canvases
