This weekend was a mixture of work and spa time for me. Sometimes (when I have the time) I really enjoy pampering myself and get out all the beauty products otherwise buried in some drawer. However this time I felt like doing an all natural spa day mixing my own face mask and treating my hair and body with coconut oil.
As I used to have quite horrible acne on my cheeks I discovered this mask a long long time ago and fell in love with it ever since. It smells amazingly and leaves your skin glowing.Back then I did quite a bit of research on why this mask supposedly helps with acne and found different benefits for each of the ingredients. As I did a lot of reading I’ll just sum them up for you below. Let me know if you’ve tried it and what you think of it!
Organic Cinnamon: Antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and microdermabrasion benefits
Freshly Ground Nutmeg: Anti-inflammatory benefits, helps with scars
Raw Honey: Natural probiotic and antibacterial benefits, helps prevent new breakouts
Lemon Juice (Optional): Natural astringent, antibacterial benefits, helps reducing dark scars
1. Just mix all the ingredients until you get a runny consistency. Put on an old t-shirt and get all the hair out of your face as this is a very sticky mask.
2. Clean your face properly before you begin. For applying the mask I recommend using an old makeup brush as this will be less messy. Apply the mask all over your face avoiding your mouth, eyes and especially eyebrows.
3. Leave on for about 15 minutes. Finally take everything off with a damp towel. The tiny grains of the nutmeg and cinnamon will be a natural peeling while wiping it off, leaving your skin nice and smooth.
