I think we all know the feeling. It’s Sunday evening and all we can thinks about is getting up early and jumping right back into productivity. A feeling most of us probably dread. I openly admit I am not the most sociable person in the morning but after years of hard training I have somehow managed to deal with myself and just kick start my day in the best way possible, especially Mondays. So you can feel the same way, I have gathered my top 5 tips to overcome the Monday Blues that have worked for me for years.

GET UP EARLY
I know you probably want to do the exact opposite. However I always found that getting up earlier than usual on Mondays really starts of my week right. It means I have more time to make a healthy breakfast and actually enjoy it in peace before heading off to work.

HAVE SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU SMILE
Smiling or laughing has been proven to release endorphins and pick up your overall mood. Now this could be anything, your partner, your pet, your family, a funny picture or your account balance on payday. Whatever works for you, use it! CREATE A POSITIVE HABIT
Come up with something that you only do Mondays, something you enjoy. For example if you’re not a huge coffee drinker like me but still enjoy a cup from time to time, why not make Mondays your coffee days. If you have something to look forward to as soon as you get up, it will immediately transform your perception of the entire day.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS
This one is fairly easy, yet so effective. You look good, you feel good. Make Monday your fresh start. Shower, do your hair and make-up and put on your favourite outfit (appropriate for whatever you’re doing that day of course). Once you put some effort into your look it will make you feel much more confident and you will tackle whatever the day brings with a more positive attitude.

CHEER UP OTHERS
Finally, if you have successfully overcome the Monday Blues go on and try to cheer up others who might be suffering from it. Mondays aren’t dreary per se, it’s all about what you make of it.
