Coconut Oil, oh coconut oil. It’s actually quite hard to only limit all it’s possible uses to 5, but I did. These are my favourite uses for coconut oil, which I pursue on a regular basis. I am going through so much coconut oil every month, it’s unbelievable. Before I start listing and describing, please ensure the coconut oil you might plan on buying is raw and organic, otherwise you’re not doing your body any good.
FACE: Cleanser, Makeup Remover
I most frequently use coconut oil as a facial cleanser or makeup remover. Don’t be afraid of oil, even if you have acne prone skin like me, it will not make your skin break out more if you use it right. Coconut oil will remove even waterproof mascara and after you wash your face, applied to a cotton pad you will get every bit of makeup or dirt residue out of your pores and moisturize your skin at the same time.
HAIR: Hair Mask
You might already know from my ‘Healthy Blonde Hair’ post (HERE) that coconut oil is an important part of my hair care routine. Whenever I don’t have to leave the house for a day or two I work a good amount of coconut oil through the ends of my hair and put it into a bun overnight.
TEETH: Oil Pulling
In case you haven’t heard of it, oil pulling is a method of cleaning (and whitening) your teeth and body, getting rid of any bacteria by rinsing your mouth with oil every morning. There is so much more to it, I will do a separate post about oil pulling in the future, but feel free to read up about it, it’s worth a try.
NAILS: Cuticle Softener
This really doesn’t need many words does it? Coconut oil is a perfect replacement for any expensive cuticle oils out there. It’s very nourishing to the skin and is soaked up in just a few minutes.
BODY: Shaving Cream, Scrub, Moisturizer
Like I said, you can use coconut oil for practically anything. It’s great as a shaving cream; mixed with sugar or salt forms a delicious body scrub or can simply be used as a moisturizer. Just go buy a jar and be experimental, I’m sure you’ll get some use out of it!
